Writers on Track features Canadian songwriter, producer, and artist Breagh Isabel with BMG Publishing. A sought-after collaborator, she has written and produced for artists including Donovan Woods, BANNERS, and EJAE of K-Pop Demon Hunters. In summer 2025, she released her debut EP, “Things I Never Told You”, and is currently working on a cover project that reimagines classic songs through a queer lens.

What’s your favorite part of the songwriting process?

My favourite parts of the songwriting process are definitely the very beginning and the wrap up at the end. I love the start of a session, when you land on the seed of the idea that you’re going to chase and everything just starts flowing! Then I really love the very end, when you can listen back to the demo with fresh ears and look back on what you created that day.

What’s your biggest session highlight so far?

One of my biggest session highlights was writing “In Another World” with EJAE [from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters] and a fellow Canadian writer and artist Tedy. We started it at a songwriting camp in Toronto but ran out of time before the session ended, so over the next year we kept sending ideas back and forth until it was finished.

When EJAE launched her solo career after KPop Demon Hunters, she chose it as her first single. It’s also become one of my most-streamed songs. That session reminded me that you never know where a song might end up, so if you believe in one, don’t give up on it!

How much do current market and track trends impact your creative process?

Current trends influence my creative process a bit, but I don’t usually chase them. Over the past few years, I’ve figured out where my strengths are as a writer and producer, and I try to bring those into every session.

One thing I love about working with Concord (now part of BMG Publishing), is getting the chance to write with so many different kinds of artists. That really keeps me on my toes! Last year, for example, I was at a writing camp with a really amazing Colombian artist named Amantina, and sessions like that push me to explore new sounds and ideas.

I love finding the balance between what comes naturally to me and what best serves the artist that I’m writing with. I think that’s what keeps me from getting stuck in a creative rut.
