Most of our music publisher clients already know Sandra Nettleton, CMRRA’s Director of Licensing and Royalties. Born in Mozambique, Sandra started part-time employment with CMRRA in July 1990 while still in high school. She continued with her education while working at CMRRA and studied Business Administration at both York and Ryerson Universities.
Throughout her years with CMRRA in various roles, she has steadily proven her commitment to the job, and has always exhibited a willingness to take on greater responsibilities. Her previous role as Manager, Licensing and Royalties was the first time CMRRA combined these two areas under the oversight of a single individual, and Sandra has expanded her knowledge and insight to be able to address the panorama of issues that spans the licensing and royalties landscape.
Sandra is playing a vital role in the launch of the new Licensing Distribution System (LDS). Along with Lori Ellis, Sandra has been highly involved in developing and testing this new system and the integration of all lines of business. Sandra’s dedication and knowledge has been integral to the many facets of the IT infrastructure conversion project, in particular ensuring the quality of the royalty processing and distribution components of the system.
Sandra works directly with a large number of CMRRA’s clients acting as a liaison. A highlight of Sandra’s time here has been helping our staff and clients with day-to-day inquiries. She is a true problem solver and is constantly on the lookout for new ways to streamline and improve operations.
Sandra explains that her career with CMRRA has been longstanding because she is constantly challenged and always learning. Sandra loves the culture of CMRRA, the people she has worked with over the years, and the supportive environment.
Outside of CMRRA, Sandra is married and a devoted mom to two girls. All animal lovers, Sandra and her family currently share their home with a dog, a cat and a gecko. Her children are an important focus for her, and so Sandra serves on the School Parent Council as Secretary and is deeply involved in the school’s extracurricular and fundraising activities. She grew up travelling and that has remained an important activity for her family. Recently, Sandra and her family embarked on a road trip to the Maritimes, visiting New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Sandra enjoys a diverse selection of music from Andrea Bocelli to Pink, and from Gordon Lightfoot to Kelly Clarkson. Her most current concert was Great Big Sea. In her words, “music makes everything better”.
