The Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) is proud to announce the appointment of Margaret McGuffin to the position of Executive Director.
“The Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Margaret to CMPA. She brings a wide range of music industry experience and knowledge to the role that will assist her in helping us achieve our mission of promoting the interests of Canadian Music Publishers and their songwriting partners,” says CMPA President Jodie Ferneyhough. “She will be a valuable addition to our team and we look forward to having her help us build the organization for the future.”
Margaret has held management positions with the Musicians’ Rights Organizations Canada and Access Copyright and has served on the Board of Directors for Re:Sound and the Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC). She started her career at Music Canada and Connect Music Licensing and later worked as a consultant with a wide range of cultural organizations including the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Science.
Margaret holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA in Arts and Media Administration from York University’s Schulich School of Business. Prior to her appointment as Executive Director of CMPA, Margaret held the position of Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA). Margaret will remain a member of CMRRA’s executive team as Vice President, Industry Relations and Communications.
