Each year since 2001, CMRRA presents the Cyril Devereux Award to an employee who has exhibited excellence in all aspects of his or her position, including exemplary client service, impeccable work quality and productivity, genuine care and enthusiasm for a job well done, courtesy, professionalism and team spirit. Cyril Devereux was CMRRA’s first General Manager and was a stalwart friend to Canada’s songwriter and music publisher community. This award serves to honour the qualities that our dear Mr. D best exemplified.
A graduate of Durham College’s Music Business Management program, Kase has been a valued member of the CMRRA team since late 2009. He was hired as part of our major label licensing team and quickly went on to play a key role in the analysis and payment of claims made by rights holders in the context of the settlement of the class action lawsuit dealing with unpaid mechanical and video royalties. Kase has since become an expert royalty analyst and has been contributing his expertise to identifying and releasing royalties owed to CMRRA clients from payments made by the major labels into the newly established Licensing Trust under the settlement of the action.
Upon being awarded the award, Kase expressed feeling both pleasantly surprised and humbled. In his time away from the office, he likes to paint and play piano and is teaching himself ukulele. Ben Folds (Five) is Kase’s favourite artist.
CMRRA’s management and staff congratulate Kase on this accomplishment! You can read more about Cyril Devereux here.
