CMRRA is pleased to announce that Andrea England has been promoted to the newly-created role of Product Manager – Web Services | Business Analyst. Andrea England has been a valued member of the CMRRA team since 2007. CMRRA has benefited from Andrea’s expertise and experience with the industry at large, as Andrea is well known within the industry as a prolific songwriter. Andrea has leveraged her experience to expand the scope of her Business Analyst role over the past several years.
Andrea began her studies in English at St. Francis Xavier University. After travelling overseas to volunteer and teach, she returned to Canada to finish her degree at Dalhousie University where she additionally pursued a degree in Gender and Women’s Studies, inspired by her time in Nepal and India. She began her career in Ottawa working various marketing and writing jobs, and it was here that she began writing songs, having been exposed to the craft as a keyboard player in a local original band. Garnering radio play with her first solo EP release, she soon moved to Toronto to further her music career, releasing her first record, Lemonade, while working as Membership Coordinator for the Songwriters Association of Canada.
Andrea first joined CMRRA’s royalty group in 2007, and quickly transitioned to become Supervisor of Licensing Productivity. In 2010, Andrea undertook training at University of Toronto to become a Business Analyst and shifted to this role within CMRRA. She first applied her new skill set to our administration of the pending list settlement requirements with the major labels and further focused on many different aspects of our LDS implementation and ongoing business requirement needs. Her promotion to this new position reflects the evolution of her role over time as the primary steward for CMRRA’s web service offerings, which include:
- CMRRA Direct,
- CSI Web Claims,
- the Unclaimed Works Portal (new web product launched recently!),
- our public-facing CMRRA Repertoire Search (new web product launched recently!).
Andrea describes her life as “all music – all the time”. She has released two critically-acclaimed albums, has written with an international who’s who of songwriters, and has landed cuts on albums from top country artists, like the CCMA’s Female Country Artist of the Year, Meghan Patrick, to pop stars like Nicole Scherzinger (for which she received a UK Gold Record). In addition, Andrea is the founder, curator, and host of Four Chords & the Truth: Toronto’s hottest songwriter series taking place quarterly at the Dakota Tavern. Andrea is also a big fan and supporter of many songwriters and co-writers whose names are in the liner notes but whom most people might not know.
