What’s your favourite part of the songwriting process?
My favourite part of the songwriting process is the venting. The emotional release of getting these thoughts onto the page. Songwriting is a place of refuge to explore themes and topics in ways that are unique to each of us.
What’s your biggest session highlight so far?
My biggest session highlight has been working with acclaimed songwriters like Social House and learning their approach to songwriting and organizing song structure. I come from a very rap background, so sometimes structure isn’t the be all and end all. I’ve been more intentional about song structure.
How much do current market and track trends impact your creative process?
I listen to current trends because I am part of the culture. I make music to connect people together, so I’d like to understand what sounds are currently doing a good job of that. I don’t let it affect how I create but I process it through my own lens and worldview.
