Every year since 2001, CMRRA has presented the Cyril Devereux Award to an employee who has brought excellence to their role and demonstrated their dedication to customer service. These are values that were dearly important to our founder, Mr. Devereux, and so we honour his legacy by recognizing outstanding individuals here at CMRRA.
We are pleased to announce Tonya Small as the 2016 recipient of the Cyril Devereux Award. Tonya has been with CMRRA for six years, and began her career here as Royalties and Licensing Support. Through her hard work and dedication, Tonya earned her current position of Major Label Licensing and Royalties Liaison, which she has held for two years.
Upon hearing news of her accomplishment, Tonya was shocked but grateful and happy. At the time of speaking with her in January, she expressed that it had not quite sunk in. She explained that working with a great group of people to meet shared goals is one of the highlights of her time here at CMRRA. Tonya appreciates the guidance and trust she receives from the supervisory team, and for the year ahead she looks forward to further enhancements with CMRRA’s Licensing and Royalty Distribution System. Tonya is also eager to further develop her relationships with labels and working together to ensure that music is properly licensed.
Tonya grew up in Alberta, just outside of Edmonton. She studied History and Classics at University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction. While in Alberta she worked in banking, at Xerox, and in construction. Tonya worked to fuel her adventurous spirit, and her travels brought her to Toronto where she began her career at CMRRA.
Outside the office, Tonya loves to hang out with her two cats and dog, and likes to watch movies. She also loves to spend time in museums and socializing with friends in a cozy old pub.
Please join all of us at CMRRA in congratulating Tonya!
