CMRRA offers music licensing and royalty collection services. There is no fee to join as a client; we are compensated by commission on the royalty revenues that we collect and distribute. Each line of business is an opt-in for our clients. They have varied commission rates that are competitive with other royalty collectives.
Our lines of business:
Online music licensing: for the reproduction of songs used by on-demand streaming platforms, as permanent downloads, limited downloads, and webcasting.
Broadcast mechanical licensing: for the reproduction of songs by radio stations and satellite broadcasters.
Audiovisual post-synchronization licensing: for the reproduction of songs embedded in existing audiovisual content

Royalties are distributed quarterly on March, June, September and December; however, the sources of revenue that are included in each distribution vary. Online, Mechanical and Private Copying royalties are distributed quarterly, provided there is activity to report totaling $15 or greater (gross Canadian). Broadcast mechanical royalties are distributed once or twice a year. Out-of-cycle royalties may also be distributed from time to time under special circumstances.
